Queens Park Rangers Football Club recently sacked their manager Neil Critchley after just 2 Months in charge. A record of 1 win in 12 games and a drop from 6th in the table to 17th meant a change was needed quickly. Within 48 hours, former Rangers hero player, Gareth Ainsworth, signs to become their 3rd manager of the season.
Ainsworth had been at League 1 side Wycombe Wanderers for 11 years but decided now was the time to take on a new challenge. That decision, however, wasn’t easy as he’d been there a long time and had plenty of success, and now Wycombe are competing for the playoffs but after an emotional goodbye to his Wycombe players, his new adventure in West London began.
Of course, it’s left Wycombe in a tricky position, losing their manager whilst pushing for the playoffs. QPR were keen to express their gratitude with how professional Wycombe had been, QPR CEO Lee Hoos said:
“I would like to thank Wycombe Wanderers for their professionalism. We have the utmost respect for them and are hugely sympathetic as we recognise the challenging nature of these circumstances.”
Wycombe replied to their message on Twitter saying :
As a club Wycombe wanderers showed their dignity, class and great sportsmanship despite having their manager taken from them mid-season.

Ainsworth is a much-loved football hero from his QPR playing days. Attacking, fast and skillful – Ainsworth never gave up and he is still a rocker with his rock band. Good luck Gareth Ainsworth and thank you Wycombe Wanderers.
